ABOUT US
We are a small kennel located in Southern MS on 20 acres. We have only
been raising Australian Cattle Dogs for a short time, but we have
acquired some of the best lines available. We are not new to the breed,
or to the herding dog. I grew up with Border Collies and Shelties and
acquired my first Cattle Dog for $150.00 strictly as a riding and barn
companion. In 2006, our program took a turn in another direction, thanks
to Sherri Becker and a very special ACD named Quigley.
OUR KENNEL
We have an indoor, air conditioned/heated kennel for our dogs. However,
our dogs do not stay locked in kennels during the day. We only put our
dogs up at night, or in inclement weather. When we have a female in
heat, she will remain kenneled until she is out of heat. Our yards are
fenced and cross fenced with hot wire top and bottom to secure the dogs
from getting out. We have 7 outdoor kennels and runs for additional
space to be used as needed. Our dogs are allowed to play and be dogs,
they can run, swim in the pond, play in the jungle gym, or dig in the
"dirt mound".
OUR DOGS
Our dogs are first and foremost our family members only in fur. We love
our dogs and I value all my time I spend with them. Everyone of our dogs
is an individual with distinct personalities. We take great pride in
showing them off to anyone who wants to drop by and visit. Each dog gets
quality time each day, whether it is couch time or Frisbee time, we enjoy
being with our furry friends. I am a stay at home doggy and horse mom
and spend my days with my horses and dogs.
BREED STANDARD
Bleu Moon Kennels breeds true to breed standard in our dogs for
correctness, soundness, temperament, working ability and most of all a
true BLEU companion. However, not all dogs are created equal and even
with a breed standard firmly in place by the AKC, you will see Champion
dogs who are either above or below the breed standard.

TESTING
-
HIPS - Our dogs have their hips done at age two. Some of our dogs have
NOT had their hips done, but we are working toward having them all done
and will post results as we get them.
-
BAER - Our dogs are tested for hearing at LSU in Baton Rouge, LA
-
TESTING FOR PRCD -
At Bleu Moon Kennels we have chosen to use as a form of testing for
genetic problems associated with the breed. There has been much
controversy on the use of this product verses Optigen. Whether it is a
indifference to change or whether one is really better than the other is
each individuals own opinion. Our choice is

In a debate over "patent rights" Mr. Rick Dobbins, CEO of PinPoint, DNA
Technologies, Inc. addressed this issue with the following letter, which
is posted with his permission. Again, each person can draw their own
conclusions and decide what is best for them.

a letter from Rick Dobbins.
NOTE: On March 14, 2008 I received this letter
from Rick Dobbins with Pawsitive I.D. (Letter
regarding PRCD testing from Rick Dobbins)
When we received notice that all testing on PRCD was being stopped we
ordered enough kits to test all our remaining dogs. Since
Pawsitive ID will be swamped with test, we do not expect to have results
back for at least two to three months. When we get the results back they
will be added to each dogs profile.
We firmly stand behind Pawsitive ID and this will remain our test of
choice and wish Rick and PinPoint Technologies the best and hope they
are back up and running soon. We are currently awaiting news from
Pawsitive when they will resume testing. Hopefully it will be soon
according to sources.
Bleu Moon Kennels has been diligently testing all
our dogs/bitches and we are almost there. Everyone has been tested for
PRA and BAER tested, we have about 90% of our dogs/bitches tested for
hips using PennHip. Some dogs may not be PRA tested simply because we
know the status, such as an A to A breeding. If you have any questions
pertaining to testing, I will be more than happy to supply information
and certificates of testing. I will not publicly post my copies on line.
Any dogs not tested may be a dog we simply have no plans to breed, is
retired or spayed/neutered. PUPPY MILLS
We are not a puppy mill. So many are quick to jump and label a breeder
as a puppy mill if they produce a few litters a year. We care deeply
about our dogs and we do not breed our adult females after the age of 6
years and we do not breed more than 3 litters from her in her lifetime,
but never past the age of 6. Before labeling a breeder a puppy mill,
please visit these links to see what a puppy mill really is: CAUTION:
these pictures are graphic in nature.

is too easy to make up "testimonials" by only putting a name and state,
